Romanian athletes won on Friday another six medals in the European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships in Eilat, Israel, according to a release sent to Agerpres. Nicolae Onica won two silver and one bronze medal in the 94 kg category, in the U23 section. CS Dinamo's athlete won the bronze medal in the snatch event, with 167 kg, the first two spots being taken by Russian Adam Maligov, 170 kg, and Lithuanian Zygimantas Stanulis, also 170 kg (heavier body weight).
In clean and jerk, Maligov (90.26 kg) claimed the first place, with 207 kg, followed by Onica, 207 kg (93.24 kg), and another Russian Konstantin Roshchupkin, 201 kg.
In overall, Maligov ranked first, with 377 kg, Onica took the silver, with 374 kg, and Roshchupkin won the bronze, with 366 kg. Also in the U23 section, Andreea Aanei won three medals in the +75 kg category, two silver and one bronze.
Aanei ranked second in the snatch event, with 106 kg, outrun by Ukrainian Anastasia Lysenko, 120 kg, while the third position was taken by Belgian Anna Vanbellinghen, 105 kg.
In clean and jerk, the Romanian won the bronze medal, with 126 kg, ranking below Ukrainians Lysenko, 150 kg, and Ganna Pustovarova, 130 kg. In overall, Lysenko was ranked first, 270 kg, and Andreea Aanei won the silver, with 232 kg. Romania has currently reached a total of 30 medals in the European Weightlifting Championships of Eilat, 9 gold, 11 silver, and 10 bronze medals. In the junior competition, the outcome is 6-2-4 and in U23, 3-9-6.
