ANSVSA and international partners expand cooperation for food safety and quality

The National Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVA) organized, on Monday, at the Institute of Veterinary Hygiene and Public Health, a technical mission together with international experts, during which projects for the modernization of testing methods were evaluated and new directions for collaboration were established to improve food safety and quality.

According to a press release from the authority, the meeting was organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency, in collaboration with the Nuclear and Radioactive Waste Agency, within the technical mission related to the TC ROM5010 and ROM5011 projects.

The event was attended by James Sasanya, representative of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mihaita Gaina, president of the Nuclear and Radioactive Waste Agency, Ramona Georgiana Popescu, vice president of the institution, and Silviu Beia, representative of the National Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Authority.

The main objectives of the meeting included the presentation of the Institute of Veterinary Hygiene and Public Health as a national reference institute for food safety and quality testing methods, the evaluation of the implementation of the TC ROM5010 project, with an emphasis on the results obtained and the consolidated analytical capacities, as well as the presentation of the objectives of the ROM5011 project and the discussion of the proposed work plan for the period 2026-2027, the cited source mentions.

At the same time, areas with potential for expanded technical cooperation were identified, and a visit to the institute's laboratories and infrastructure was also carried out.

"The technical mission aimed to assess the progress and achievements of the TC ROM5010 project, finalize the work plan for ROM5011 and identify new opportunities for cooperation in the field of food safety testing and product quality. Through the active involvement of ANSVSA, Romania is consolidating its response capacity in the field of food safety and strengthening its role as a trusted partner in international cooperation," the press release also informed.
