The Apogeum Feteasca Neagra 2017 wine, of the Tohani vineyards, obtained 95 points and received the gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), a competition that unites annually over 15,000 participants in the entire world.
According to a release sent, on Tuesday, to AGERPRES, this is the 15th medal obtained by Apogeum Feteasca Neagra, the wine included on the shortlist of the top 1 pct of wines in the world.
"Feteasca Neagra continues to offer satisfactions. The 2017 edition of the wine born in Tohani, which now has its own cellar, receives this special distinction from the Decanter World Wine Awards, which honors us and encourages our demarche to continue investing in a Romanian authentic variety, which places Romania on the international wine map," said Virgil Mindru, the CEO of Tohani Romania, Agerpres informs.
Apogeum Feteasca Neagra is a wine produced in a limited quantity, between 5,000 and 10,000 bottles annually. At the Apogeum Cellar - in Tohani, wine lovers have the possibility to taste it in vertical tastings (same wine in different vintages), where they can appreciate the differences in production years. Apogeum Feteasca Neagra 2017 will be available to the public starting this autumn.
"The past 15 years were marked by constant investment in the production of Feteasca Neagra, and Apogeum demonstrates that the objectives proposed - to transform an unknown variety in a defining one for Romanian wine - are not only notable, but confirmed year over year. Apogeum has a method of production in amphoras, rare in Romania. The confirmation that Feteasca Neagra is becoming a representative variety, together with the constant distinctions in specialized competitions, also from the consumer, who appreciates it more and more," added Virgil Mindru.
In past years, Apogeum Feteasca Neagra is more and more requested by clients in countries with tradition, such as France, Italy, Germany, but also more exotic locations such as Thailand, Brazil or China.
