The Romanian Association of Construction Contractors (ARACO) asks the Government for prior consultations and impact analyses before promoting legislative changes for the recruitment of non-EU workers, according to a press release from the organization.

In the context of the circulation of a draft GEO that amends the current legislation on the recruitment of foreign labor and taking into account the fact that the construction sector in Romania is acutely impacted by a shortage of qualified and unqualified indigenous labor, ARACO requests: avoiding the transfer of additional costs and unreasonable risks to construction companies; agreeing on transparent and non-discriminatory accreditation conditions that do not affect construction companies' access to these services; conducting an impact study in advance that would drastically limit any negative economic and social effects on the construction sector.

"Last but not least, ARACO requests adequate consultation before promoting the regulatory act, through a process of correct and assumed decision-making transparency," the association's press release also states.
