Several foreigners who came to Romania on a work visa, but later tried to leave the country illegally, were expelled by the Arad authorities in the recent days, receiving a ban on entering the European Union for several more years.
According to a press release of the General Inspectorate for Immigration, 13 foreigners were removed under escort from the country's territory, in two missions carried out by police officers from the Arad Public Custody Accommodation Centre for Foreigners. These are men from Bangladesh and Georgia, without the right to reside in Romania.
Ten of them came to the country legally, to get a job, but later wanted to leave illegally for Western Europe.
"The checks showed that one of them entered Romania illegally at the beginning of the year, while another 10 came legally with work visas, but lost their right to stay after trying to illegally cross the state border. The other two, previously convicted of migrant smuggling and recently released from prison, were also removed from the country," the press release says.
The 13 men, aged between 22 and 54, were escorted to the Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj, where they were put on flights to their countries. A ban on entry into the European Union, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation was imposed on them for periods ranging from 3 to 5 years.
