Most Romanians feel strongly affected by rising prices and are more concerned about the impact of the war in Iran on these and a potential fuel crisis than about the expansion of the conflict, according to the Poll/Int Romania Barometer conducted by the Political Rating Agency (ARP) between 1 and 10 April.

The survey shows that 52.0% of Romanians feel very strongly affected by rising fuel prices, 26.6% strongly affected, 9.9% slightly affected, 3.8% very slightly affected, while 7.7% of respondents do not know or did not answer.

According to the research, 21.13% of Romanians are most concerned that the war in Iran will trigger an energy crisis (oil, gas), 20.6% believe this conflict will lead to price increases and inflation, and 18.3% fear that Romania will be drawn into the conflict.

At the same time, 7.6% of respondents fear that the war will reach Europe, 6.1% believe it will lead to the collapse of the rules-based global order, 5.2% fear it will be prolonged for months or years, 4.8% fear an increase in terrorism, 2.4% a humanitarian crisis in the conflict area and 1.3% disruption to global flights.

A total of 12.4% of respondents did not know how to answer regarding their main concern related to the war in Iran.

Asked whether they supported or opposed Romania's decision to allow US military forces to deploy equipment and personnel in the country in the context of the war in Iran, 35.7% of respondents did not express an opinion, 18.7% said they supported it, 32.2% opposed it and 13.4% did not know how to answer.

The survey was conducted using online panel interviews (CAWI) - 1,187 interviews with the population aged over 18, representative at national level.

The methodology used was an online opt-in panel, with two-phase weighting based on variables such as age, gender, education, area of residence, region, internet use and previous voting behaviour, according to official data from the National Institute of Statistics and the Permanent Electoral Authority. The statistical margin of error is 2.8%.

The questions and socio-political risk indicators in this report belong to ARP, are intended for public information and were not commissioned by a client or partner.
