The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) ranks among the world's top 500 universities in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 in two fields: Economics & Econometrics (351 - 400) and Business & Management Studies (451 - 500).
"The two fields cover roughly 85% of ASE's academic profile, positioning the institution as the only university in Romania represented at whole-university level in the global top 500 of this ranking," ASE said in a release on Wednesday.
Nationally, ASE ranks first in both Economics & Econometrics and Business & Management Studies.
"The inclusion of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 validates the consistency of an academic model built on scientific rigor, institutional coherence and international openness. Being in the global top 500 in fields that define our university reflects ASE's capacity to generate relevant knowledge and to train highly qualified human capital adapted to the dynamics of the contemporary global economy," Rector Nicolae Istudor said, as quoted in the release.
This year's edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject includes 1,912 institutions and evaluates 55 disciplines grouped into five major fields.
Universities are assessed based on academic reputation, employer reputation, research impact (citations), and bibliometric indicators such as the Hirsch index and the International Research Network (IRN).
