Alliance for Romanians' Union (AUR) Chairman, MP George Simion, said on Thursday that administrative reform in Romania must start with reducing the number of parliamentarians to 300, as per the referendum that was held and validated earlier and stressed that AUR "rejects any form of regionalization" of Romania.
George Simion mentioned that his party's target is the "excessive politicisation" of central and local administration and that the "demonisation" of civil servants must be stopped.
"Our aim is the excessive politicisation of central and local government and these are the solutions we have found on all levels (...). Let's start from Parliament and respect democracy in Romania, respect the will of Romanians, those who voted in a referendum to have 300 parliamentarians," Simion said at a debate organized by AUR at the Palace of Parliament, on the theme "Public Administration in Romania at the crossroads: between reform and bankruptcy."
In this context, Simion criticised the way Bucharest is administered.
The AUR leader said that this administrative reform should "put" all political parties on the same table and go into next year's elections with an improved version of the central and local administration.
