The 12th edition of the Balkanik Festival - Home of World Music will take place from Friday to Sunday, in the Uranus Garden and on the Uranus Street, the organizers announced.
According to a release sent to AGERPRES on Friday, the event will take place on the Uranus Street, between the square at the intersection with Calea Rahovei and the intersection with Calea Sabinelor, without affecting the intersections, from Friday, September 5, at 7:00 AM, until Sunday, September 7, at 10:00 PM. One traffic lane will remain open along the route to allow emergency vehicle access.
Traffic restrictions will be conducted by the District 5 Local Police.
Under the motto "Joy is an act of resistance," the Festival brings the Uranus Garden and the Uranus Street back into the city's spotlight, in an event that celebrates shared joy, community and reinvented traditions, featuring numerous concerts along with cultural, artistic and community activities.
"For three days, the Uranus Garden, open to the public only once a year and the Uranus Street become a living museum of reinvented traditions, global rhythms and crafts that breathe life into communities. On Uranus Street, the Balkanik Fair turns into an open-air urban dancefloor, where DJ sets accompany the craft fair, creative workshops and relaxation areas, with free access for all," the organizers announced.
Under the theme "Rethinking Balkan space through art and ecology," artists and researchers from Romania and the region explore how community interventions and heritage preservation can transform the environment.
"Bucharest Collage Collective invites the public to join in collage-making and participatory workshops, while Celula de Arta blends textile art with contemporary poetry, and the exhibition called "Revolutionary - Armenian Women Who Changed the World" highlights the portraits of women who marked history, created by artist Maretta Aivazian. The "Safiticuminti" project merges digital art with craftsmanship through workshops like Paint Your Own Totebag (September 6, 2:00-5:00 PM) and Linocut Printing (September 7, 2:00-5:00 PM), open to all ages. Children can take part in arts & crafts, painting, modeling and juggling workshops," the quoted source mentioned.
In parallel, OSCAR Downstream is setting up an interactive space featuring astrological forecasts, a photo corner with a giant vinyl, the Matching Vinyl game, fortune cookies and workshops for dreamcatchers and bracelets.
The season ticket to the Balkanik Festival (the Uranus Garden) is now available for 280 RON through Livetickets, Iabilet and Eventim. Day tickets can be purchased for 140 RON. At the festival entrance, tickets will cost 168 RON. Children up to 9 years old enter free when accompanied by adults.
