Basescu: I would not rule out the possibility of a PSD+PNL government

National leader of the People's Movement Party (PMP) Traian Basescu told Romania TV private broadcaster on Sunday that he would not rule out the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) getting together after this autumn's general election, this way remaking the Social Liberal Union (USL), according Agerpres.

Asked whether such development would left the Opposition with the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE), PMP and the National Democratic Hungarian Union of Romania (UDMR), basses said, "I think ALDE will disappear and PMP will be the Opposition, given that its is qualified opposition." 

USL was a political alliance of PSD and PNL that unsuccessfully attempted to impeach Basescu in 2012, his second term in office, for austerity measures taken in 2010.
