Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Alba Iulia and Fagaras Cristian Crisan attended on Sunday the inaugural service of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, as representative of Cardinal Lucian Muresan, Major Archbishop of the Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek-Catholic.


Another two Romanian hierarchs were also present.

"On Sunday, May 18, the celebration of the Holy and Divine Liturgy took place at the Vatican, marking the beginning of the Petrine ministry of Pope Leo XIV. Three Romanian senior clergy participated: His Eminence Cristian Crisan, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Alba Iulia and Fagaras, as representative of His Beatitude Cardinal Lucian Muresan, Major Archbishop of the Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek Catholic; His Eminence Aurel Perca, Roman Catholic Archbishop and Metropolitan of Bucharest, Vice-President of the Episcopal Conference of Romania; His Eminence Benoni Ambarus, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Rome," states the official Facebook page of the Archdiocese of Alba Iulia and Fagaras.

Pope Leo XIV was officially installed on Sunday as the 267th pontiff and sovereign of the Vatican State, during an open-air mass.

Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected Pope on May 8, at the end of a brief conclave that lasted just 24 hours.

Pope Leo succeeds Pope Francis, who died on April 21.
