BNR launches coin made of copper-plated tombac, 80 years after founding of George Emil Palade University

The National Bank of Romania launches into the numismatic circuit, starting with November 17, 2025, a coin made of copper-plated tombac with the theme "George Emil Palade" University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology in Targu Mures - 80 years since its establishment.

The obverse of the coin depicts a composition containing symbols of the university environment, the inscription "ROMANIA" in an arc, the nominal value "1 LEU", the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue "2025", agerpres reports.

The reverse of the coin features the circular inscription "UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE, PHARMACY, SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY "GEORGE EMIL PALADE" IN TARGU MURES", the year of its establishment "1945" and an image of the University building.

The copper-plated tombac coins are packaged in transparent methacrylate capsules and are enclosed in presentation leaflets, inserted into cardboard folders.

The maximum circulation is 5,000 pieces and the selling price for the copper-plated tombac coin is 260 lei, excluding VAT, including the presentation leaflet and cardboard folder.

The copper-plated tombac coins with the theme "George Emil Palade" University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology in Targu Mures - 80 years since its establishment have circulation power on the territory of Romania.

The launch of these coins into the numismatic circuit is carried out through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta, Dolj, Iasi and Timis.
