Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared that a new Minister of Education, after the resignation of Daniel David, will be appointed by the end of January, specifying that a final decision in this regard will be made based on discussions with colleagues from the PNL.
"We must try to close it by the end of this month. Let me have a discussion with the party leadership and we will announce after a vote. There are several working hypotheses. I am discussing with our colleagues and we will make a decision," Ilie Bolojan said on Radio Romania Actualitati on Friday.
On December 22, Daniel David announced his resignation from the position of Minister of Education and Research.
In this context, Bolojan was also asked what kind of arguments he expects to clarify what happened to the doctoral thesis of the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, in light of the plagiarism accusations made against him.
"This accusation of plagiarism that Mr. Marinescu allegedly made, I don't know, 15-20 years ago has appeared. I've said this before, I've tried to evaluate my ministers based on what they do during their mandate. Because they have the political support they have, as does Mr. Marinescu, as has been seen in the public sphere, and I understand that there are appeals filed with the Ethics Commission of the University of Craiova, where he defended his doctorate, and, basically, this commission will have to make a decision one way or another. I've said it and I'll repeat it: plagiarism is theft and any rational person understands that it's something you can't brag about, but every person is responsible for what they've done, and I hope, therefore, that this matter is clarified." situation by the Ethics Committee of the University of Craiova, in one sense or another," Bolojan also stated.
