The BT Pay application, the first banking wallet launched in Romania, has exceeded the threshold of 4.6 million users, eight years after its launch, with over one million phone payments, approximately 400,000 transfers and approximately 300,000 online purchase confirmations being made daily, according to a press release from the bank.
From BT Pay, clients can access, in addition to Banca Transilvania services, BT Capital Partners, BT Asset Management, BT Pensii and BT Direct solutions for investing in shares and saving in funds (investment, pension), respectively for financing.
The Donation functionality, introduced in 2020, facilitated the directing of over one million euros to social causes and non-profit organizations. BT Pay Kiddo, launched in 2023, has over 180,000 users and contributes to the financial education of children and adolescents.
"Eight years ago, BT Pay was a brave dream. Today it is the application that has completely changed the way people manage their money. It has changed the game, raised the standard, redefined remote banking and shown that technology can be human, accessible. It has grown steadily, healthily, becoming for many of the 4.6 million users their first digital wallet - and the first wallet is never forgotten", said Oana Ilas, Deputy General Manager Retail Banking, Banca Transilvania, quoted in the press release.
Banca Transilvania is part of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group and is the market leader in Romania and South-Eastern Europe, with almost 80% Romanian capital. BT is the first bank in Romania listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (1997).
BT is a universal bank, with a market share of 23% of assets, over 5 million customers, more than 10,000 employees and 530 agencies in 180 locations.
