Bucharest Days celebrated in concerts, theatre performances, acrobatics, exhibitions

Concerts, theatre performances, acrobatic shows and art exhibitions are scheduled, this weekend, on Calea Victoriei, under the "Open Streets, Bucharest - Urban Promenade" programme carried out to celebrate Bucharest Days.

According to a press release from ARCUB - Cultural Centre of the Bucharest Municipality, the event that has delighted the Bucharest public in the last six days, the Bucharest Music Film Festival, now in its twelfth edition, will culminate with other live music performances.

This evening , the New Hope orchestra, together with violinist Valentin Erban and soprano Veronica Anuca, will send a message of harmony and solidarity through music, in a concert financed by the Ministry of Culture called "Romania for Peace". The National Radio Orchestra, conducted by Cristian Spataru, together with soprano Valentina Nafornita, will mark the end of the twelfth edition of the festival, in the evening with a classical music concert.

The Youth Vision for Society Association, in partnership with Arhitectura Magazine and the Romanian Architects' Union, organises the event "Urban Explorers - Night Session", dedicated to the discovery of Bucharest's architectural and historical heritage. A retro automobile exhibition on Jean Louis Calderon Street, which opened on Friday is part of the same programme "Open Streets, Bucharest - Urban Promenade" and can be visited on weekends.

Bucharest visitors and denizens alike can also discover works of painting, graphics, decorative art, iconography and fashion design, at the exhibitions presented by the Bucharest School of Art at its headquarters on Cuza Voda Street no. 100, District 4. Moreover, a fashion design workshop, coordinated by Maria Constantinescu, will be on today from noon to evening.

As for the artistic program of the Open Streets today on Calea Victoriei, there will be a series of activities dedicated to children. Actors of the Tandarica Animation Theatre House will stage the show "Freestyle Puppetry", and artists of the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus will perform an acrobatic minishow.

The National Registry of Voluntary Marrow Donors joins the Open Streets project to celebrate World Marrow Donor Day in a concert today by the choir of the national programme "Cantus Mundi."

Both today and tomorrow, from the morning to the evening, the Galateca Gallery and the Neo Art Romania Cultural Association invite the public to a contemporary art installation "The Sleep of Reason Produces Ideas" by Alexandru Simion-Boeriu.

On both weekend days, passers-by are invited to the Europa FM Lounge, where they can relax, against a background of ambient rhythms. Live music lovers can listen to folk music performances by the TheM Band. Also, tomorrow, the Real band will perform recitals.

The Constantin Tanase Revue Theatre invites the public to a Bucharest Days event at the Tanase Theatre House. The foyer of the Savoy Hall houses an exhibition of theatrical costumes and personal belongings of some of the theatre's artists, posters and rare photographs of emblematic artists - an incursion into the history of the Bucharest Revue Theatre. Admission is free.

The whole weekend, in the area of the Iuliu Maniu Statue, artist Vasile Catrina will make caricatures.

The Arch of Triumph is open to the public on both weekend days, between 12:00hrs and 20:00hrs, and public admission is free.
