The capitalisation of companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange has exceeded the symbolic level of 500 billion lei this year, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the BVB, Radu Hanga, on Monday told an event marking the listing on the Regulated Market of the Stock Exchange of the second bond issue of Romgaz.

"We have exceeded the symbolic threshold of 500 billion lei as the capitalisation of all companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. As a side note, we are the third stock exchange in the region, after Poland and Austria. So Romania is an important player on the regional map of Central and Eastern Europe. We have seen a constant increase in the number of investors on the Stock Exchange, both directly and indirectly. I think the investment fund industry has just reported exceeding the threshold of one million investors in funds, and we are approaching the threshold of 300,000 open accounts. The stock market indices are at their maximum, if we look at the BET index, plus 42% compared to the beginning of the year, the BET Total Return index, which also includes dividends, exceeded 50% as an increase," said Radu Hanga.

He mentioned that this year a record level of the value traded on all types of financial instruments was recorded, 43 billion lei by Monday.

Also, this year a major issuer, Cristim, was listed, and there was a significant expansion of the number of financial instruments other than shares, bonds, respectively 5 ETF products were listed. At the same time, the Stock Exchange's first significant step outside Romania was taken by involving itself in the international Moldovan stock exchange as a shareholder. AGERPRES
