The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) announced that it ranks first in Romania, for the 7th consecutive year, according to the 2026 edition of the international Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR 2026) published on Thursday and it is placed in the 801-1,000 range out of a total of 2,191 universities assessed across 115 countries.
"The ASE, the leader in higher education in economics, business and public administration in Romania and South-Eastern Europe, thus confirms its status as the most prestigious university in the country in the Times Higher Education assessment, which measures global academic excellence," reads a press release.
According to data published by the Times Higher Education, the ASE ranks first nationally among 22 Romanian universities included, with a total score of 35.5-38.9 points.
The World University Rankings, one of the most comprehensive global assessments of university performance, evaluates institutions based on five main pillars, weighted as follows in the total score:
* Teaching (teaching and learning environment) - 29.5 percent
* Research Environment (volume, income and reputation) - 29 percent
* Research Quality (scientific influence and impact) - 30 percent
* Industry (knowledge transfer) - 4 percent
* International Outlook (staff, students and international collaborations) - 7.5 percent
"The result confirms the mission of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies to provide advanced education and research and to train adaptable, future-oriented professionals capable of contributing to the development of an innovative socio-economic environment in a dynamic global context," the quoted source added.
