The Romanian athlete Catalin Chirila won the silver medal in the men's C1 1,000-meter single canoe race, on Saturday, at the World Kayak-Canoe Championships in Duisburg, Germany, Agerpres reports.

On Friday evening, the CSA Steaua canoeist Catalin Chirila grabbed the gold medal in the C1M 500m race at the same ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Duisburg.

Romania reached 8 athletes qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics: Delvine Meringor (athletics - marathon), David Popovici (swimming - 100 m free), Lacramioara Perijoc (boxing - cat. 54 kg), Vlad Stancu (swimming - 800 m free, 1,500 m free), Andrea Miklos (athletics - 400 m), Alina Rotaru (athletics - long), Annaliese Dragan (rhythmic gymnastics), Catalin Chirila (kayak-canoe, 1,000 m).
