Romania's National Day is the day of national dignity, the day when we are united and in solidarity in our duty to future generations, Deputy Prime Minister Catalin Predoiu, Minister of Internal Affairs, said on Monday.

"December 1, the National Day of Romania, of all Romanian citizens, gathers all Romanians around the Tricolor, no matter where they are in the world. National Day is a day of national dignity, a day when we are all united by respect for the ancestors who built and defended the country, united in our duty to future generations, united by the natural desire for freedom, independence, sovereignty, respect and dignity for our country, Romania. History has shown us that whenever Romanians have united for an ideal and a high objective, the country has overcome every trial, the country has become strong, the country has prospered," said Predoiu.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that, in these times, when the world order is being tested, "we must look to our future with lucidity, national strength of character and political intelligence."

"These are times when we must look to our future with lucidity, national strength of character and political intelligence. These are times when routine has disappeared from geopolitics. These are times when we must constantly think about the present and future of the country, relying primarily on ourselves, on national solutions and effort, together, of course, with our partners in the EU and NATO. More than ever in the last 35 years, we must be united, not allow anyone to divide us internally, to preserve our fundamental values, democracy, freedom, sovereignty, independence, solidarity, dignity," Catalin Predoiu also conveyed.

The Minister of Internal Affairs expressed his conviction that the current generations can also live up to expectations and that "they will serve Romania and future generations in a masterful manner."

"I am convinced that we, the present generations, will also rise to the height of our own expectations and that these will serve Romania and future generations in a masterful way. Over our shoulders, all of us, the saints and heroes of the Romanian nation look down and we have only one option: to succeed, to develop the country and to ensure it a well-deserved place in the world through national history and our own efforts to realize our democratic, peaceful and generous aspirations. Happy birthday to all Romanians! Happy birthday, Romania!," concluded Predoiu.
