The leader of the Forta Dreptei (Right Force) Party, Ludovic Orban, said on Monday that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) is "sabotaging" the coalition from within, in view of the situation at the Constitutional Court (CCR), and that sooner or later the Social Democrats will have to be " removed" from government, Agerpres reports.
"The boycott of the quorum by the four PSD-appointed judges at the CCR clearly shows me that a majority opinion in favour of the constitutionality of the magistrates' pensions law has taken shape. What I cannot understand in any way is why the judges appointed by PSD have resorted to such a desperate solution to block a CCR decision, because the majority will remain and will make itself felt at the first meeting with a quorum," Orban wrote on Facebook.
According to him, in order to prevent the adoption of a decision, the four judges would have to be absent from all future sittings, which is practically impossible, as it would amount to the "de facto dismantling of the CCR".
"Why have they assumed this ungrateful position of 'public enemy number one' of Romanians, given that their boycott is practically useless?" Ludovic Orban added.
In his view, this episode shows that PSD "will have to be removed from government".
"P.S. This new scandalous episode once again shows me that PSD is sabotaging the coalition from within and that, sooner or later, it will have to be removed of government," the Force of the Right leader said.
CCR President Simina Tanasescu announced on Monday that the referral by the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) regarding the new draft law of the Bolojan Government on reforming magistrates' pensions was postponed until 16 January due to a lack of quorum.
According to CCR sources, the four judges appointed by PSD to the Constitutional Court - Cristian Deliorga, Gheorghe Stan, Bogdan Licu and Mihai Busuioc - did not attend Monday's meeting. They also left Sunday's meeting and did not return for the debates.
The new draft law amending magistrates' pensions, adopted by the Government, provides for a gradual increase in the retirement age to 65. The pension amount may not exceed 70% of the net allowance received in the last month of activity.
