The Chamber of Deputies, as a decisional forum, adopted on Wednesday a legislative proposal by Save Romania Union (USR), which increases the maximum speed limit outside localities, on express roads, from 100 km/h to 120 km/h.
283 votes were "in favor" and one abstention.
The draft concerns amending and supplementing Government Emergency Ordinance no. 195/2002 in regards to establishing a circulation mode differentiated on express roads, Agerpres.ro informs.
The maximum speed limit outside towns is 120 km/h, from 100 km/h, as it is now, the deputies prescribed.
Furthermore, maximum speed limit outside towns for A and B vehicle categories will be: 130 km/h on highways, 120 km/h on express roads (from 100 km/h as it is now), 100 km/h on European national roads (E) and 90 km/h on other road categories. For C, D and D1 vehicle categories the maximum speed limit will be: 110 km/h on highways, 100 km/h on express roads (from 90 km/h as it is now), 90 km/h on European national roads (E) and 80 km/h on other road categories. For A1, B1 and C1 vehicle categories the speed limit will be 90 km/h on highways, 85 km/h on express roads (from 80 km/h as it is now), 80 km/h on European national roads (E) and 70 km/h on other road categories.
