The Christmas Market will open on Friday in the Large Square of Sibiu's historic centre and nearby, in the courtyard of Brukenthal Palace, home to the National Brukenthal Museum, the organisers announced on Tuesday.
"'Christmas at the Palace' returns in 2025, running from 14 November to 28 December, with an edition that reaffirms Sibiu's community and creative spirit, bringing together culture, art and Romanian alternative music in a unique festive setting. Now a highlight of the winter season, the event continues its tradition of collaboration with the National Brukenthal Museum, strengthening its role as a platform for gatherings, artistic expression and cultural dialogue. Following the success of previous editions, which revitalised Xenopol Street with its spectacular light dome and communal dinners, the 2025 edition officially expands the fair's perimeter in this area, offering more space for strolling, interaction and participatory experiences," the press release reads.
Artists performing on the Christmas at the Palace stage include The Mono Jacks, byron, JazzyBIT & DJ K-Lu, Simona Delegeanu and Vlad Corb. Concerts will take place every Friday and Saturday from 18:00. The opening concert will be performed by Doru Trascau and Andrei Zamfir, members of The Mono Jacks, who will delight audiences with well-known songs from the band, presented in an acoustic format as part of the Live Acoustic Duo project.
For the first time, in collaboration with the National Brukenthal Museum, the 2025 edition introduces "The Brukenthal Museum Artist Elves" workshop, a creative programme for children aged 3 to 12. Activities include artistic creation and exploration workshops, and participating children will receive free access to the Brukenthal Museum to complement the experience with an insight into the local cultural heritage. The programme has already been shared with schools in Sibiu and the surrounding county, and over 40% of the available slots have already been booked.
The 'Christmas at the Palace' market will be open from Thursday to Sunday, between 12:00 and 22:00.
