The regions of Moldova, Dobrogea, the eastern half of Muntenia, and eastern and southeastern Transylvania will be under a Code Orange advisory for torrential rain and heavy winds effective as of Sunday evening at 20:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 10:00 a.m., while western Muntenia, most of Oltenia and certain spots in Transylvania are under a Code Yellow advisory for significant rain and storms, the National Weather Administration (ANM) announced on Saturday, inform Agerpres.
Heavy rain is expected to pound Moldova, Dobrogea, the eastern half of Muntenia, eastern and southeastern Transylvania between September 29 and September 30, with precipitation amounts expected to hit 40 - 60 liters/sqm, and even exceed 70 liters/sqm in spots, while the wind will temporarily gust up to 70 - 85 km/h.
The counties covered by the Code Orange warning are Botosani, Suceava, Iasi, Neamt, Vaslui, Bacau, Galati, Vrancea, Buzau, Braila, Harghita, Covasna, Brasov, Prahova, Ilfov, Ialomita Calarasi, Tulcea, Constanta, and Bucharest.
Over the same period of time, most of Oltenia, the west of Muntenia and locally in Transylvania there will be showers amounting to 25 - 40 litres/sqm and the wind is expected to blow at 45 - 65 km/h.
In the mountains, at altitudes over 1,700 meters and mainly in the Eastern Carpathians, there will also be sleet and snow, the ANM experts said.
The counties under a Code Yellow advisory are: Bistrita-Nasaud, Mures, Sibiu, Gorj, Valcea, Arges, Dambovita, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman and Giurgiu.
