The National Weather Administration (ANM) has issued a Code Red advisory of extreme temperatures and thermal discomfort for 19 counties and Bucharest city, valid from Saturday, between 10:00 hrs - 21:00 hrs, according to a release sent to agerpres.
According to meteorologists, on Saturday, in Bucharest and in Dolj, Olt, Telorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Calarasi, Ialomita, Galati, Barila, Vaslui and Iasi Counties, as well as in the lower relief areas of Valcea, Arges, Dambovita, Prahova, Buzau, Vrancea, Bacau and Neamt Counties, extreme temperatures, comparable with the absolute records of the period, will frequently hit between 38 and 41 degrees Celsius, and in the south of Oltenia and Muntenia temperature will rise to 42-44 degrees.
The temperature-humidity index (THI) will be frequently reaching between 82 and 84 units in the after-noon, and the thermal discomfort will be highly accentuated.
