Code Yellow for snowfall, glaze frost and blizzard in 16 counties, Bucharest, until Sunday morning

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) on Friday issued a Code Yellow warning for strengthening winds, significant precipitation including snowfall and blizzard conditions, affecting 16 counties and the Municipality of Bucharest until Sunday morning.

According to the source, from Friday afternoon (20 February) until Saturday evening (21 February), the wind will intensify, initially in southern Moldavia, Muntenia and the Curvature Carpathians, then also in south-eastern Oltenia and Dobruja. Gusts will reach speeds of 50-60 km/h and locally 65-70 km/h, agerpres reports.

From Friday night to Saturday (20/21 February) there will be significant precipitation, initially mixed, so that locally ice and glazed frost will form, followed by snowfall, except in the coastal area where it will rain. There will also be blizzard conditions and visibility will drop below 100 metres.

Accumulated precipitation amounts will total 15-30 l/sq m and a snow cover will form, uneven, generally 15-20 cm thick.

The counties covered by the new Code Yellow warning are: Constanta, Tulcea, Braila, Galati, Ialomita, Calarasi, Vrancea, Buzau, Prahova, Dambovita, Arges, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Covasna (partially), Ilfov and the Municipality of Bucharest.
