Code Yellow warnings for frost, strong wind and blizzard in 12 counties until Tuesday evening

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued new Code Yellow warnings on Monday for very cold weather, strong winds and blizzards, generally valid until Tuesday evening in counties in Moldavia, Transylvania and Banat.

According to meteorologists, during the period 9 February, 10:00 to 10 February, 10:00, a Code Yellow for particularly low temperatures will be in force in Moldova and eastern Transylvania, with values 6 to 9 degrees below the seasonal average. Temperatures will range between -7 and -3 degrees, while during the night from Monday to Tuesday (9/10 February) there will be severe frost, with minimum temperatures between -14 and -10 degrees.

The counties affected by this Code Yellow are Bacau, Botosani, Covasna, Galati, Harghita, Iasi, Neamt, Suceava, Vrancea and Vaslui.

In addition, between 9 February, 15:00 and 10 February, 20:00, a second Code Yellow will be in force for strong winds and blizzard conditions. In southern Banat, winds will intensify with gusts generally reaching 50 to 70 km/h, temporarily blowing snow.

In the western extremity of the Southern Carpathians, especially at altitudes above 1,200 metres, gusts will exceed 70 to 90 km/h, with blizzard conditions and reduced visibility. The counties affected by the warning are Caras-Severin and Mehedinti.
