Communist torturer Alexandru Visinescu died at the hospital of the Bucharest-Rahova penitentiary, head of the Federation of Trade Unions of the National Administration of Penitentiaries Sorin Dumitrascu told AGERPRES.
According to a press statement released by the National Administration of Penitentiaries, on Monday, around 13:00hrs, local, the medical staff of the Bucharest-Rahova Penitentiary Hospital stepped in to provide first aid to a person in custody, while calling for the support of the 112 emergency service.
"In spite of the efforts made by the specialist staff, the death of the person concerned was declared around 14:30hrs. He had been known in the unit's records as suffering from a series of chronic medical conditions, for which care was provided and treatment according to the recommendations of the specialist doctors. In accordance with the legal provisions in force, the family of the convict, the custodial judge, the Prosecutor's Office with the Bucharest Tribunal, and the INML Bucharest forensic institute were informed about the death."
