The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) on Wednesday rejected the notifications sent by the USR (Save Romania Party) and PNL (National Liberal Party) with respect to the Parliament Decision no. 69/2017 to set up a special joint committee of the Deputies' Chamber and the Senate for debating justice laws, inform sources from the CCR.
In end-November, the Save Romania Union announced that it had submitted a notification to the CCR about the Parliamentary Decision no. 69/2017 regarding the setting up of the special joint committee of the Deputies' Chamber and the Senate meant for systematization, unification and for ensuring the legislative stability in the field of justice.
"The USR notification showed that PSD-ALDE alliance gave illegal prerogatives to the special committee, which belonged to the standing legal committees, according to the two chambers' regulations, in order to shorten the debate and sooner adopt the justice laws," specified USR.
Thus, this political party's representatives appreciated that the decision doesn't say very clearly what was the role of the newly set up committee, which generates "confusion" between this committee and the attributes of the standing committees, while the later course of the bill also becomes "uncertain" and "unpredictable."
