Cooperation agreements to be signed at Romanian-Egyptian cooperation committee meeting

Two cooperation agreements will be signed on Wednesday during the fourth session of the Joint Romanian-Egyptian Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, informs Agerpres.

 

The agreements will be initialed by Stefan-Radu Oprea, Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, co-chair of the Romanian side of the Committee, and Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, co-chair of the Egyptian side of the Committee.

 

According to a Economy Ministry release, the fourth session of the Joint Romanian-Egyptian Committee for Economic Cooperation takes place October 7-9, 2024.

 

"The topics of discussion addressed during the meetings focus on a number of feasible areas of cooperation, such as: trade and investment, business environment, industry, energy, oil, gas and mineral resources, agriculture, transportation, civil aviation, information and communication technology, environment, tourism, water resources, higher education, culture, youth and sports, banking, and two cooperation agreements will be signed: a Memorandum of Understanding in the area of small and medium-sized enterprises, signed by the Egyptian side with the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism of Romania and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Romanian Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade (ARICE) and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones of the Arab Republic of Egypt," the release reads.

 

The two co-chairs of the Joint Romanian-Egyptian Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, Rania A. Al-Mashat and Stefan-Radu Oprea will make statements after signing the memorandums.

 

According to the quoted source, the year 2024 marks 118 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Arab Republic of Egypt, with a favorable history for intensifying bilateral economic dialogue. Last year, total trade between the two countries amounted to 1.1 billion dollars.
