The Minister of Culture, Andras Demeter, announced on Monday the extension of the mandate of maestro Cristian Macelaru as artistic director of the Enescu Festival and Competition.
Andras Demeter participated in a press conference dedicated to the presentation of the results of the 2025 edition of the George Enescu International Festival and the launch of the 20th edition of the George Enescu International Competition.
"The Minister of Culture reaffirmed the institution's firm commitment to the future of the George Enescu International Competition and Festival. In his speech, he announced the extension of the mandate of maestro Cristian Macelaru as artistic director of the Enescu Festival and Competition, a decision that guarantees the continuity of the artistic vision and the consolidation of the direction assumed for the next editions," the Ministry of Culture informs in a post on Facebook.
At the same time, the Minister of Culture emphasized the constant support of the institution he leads, both from a legislative and organizational perspective, for the development of this national project.
A message of appreciation was also addressed to the ARTEXIM team, led by Cristina Uruc, a manager with full mandate, obtained following the management competition held in December 2025, for the professionalism and consistency with which she supports the organization of one of the most important cultural events in Romania.
According to ARTEXIM, the mandate of conductor Cristian Macelaru as artistic director of the Enescu Festival and Competition has been extended until 2031.
