The art album "PHOENIX - Povestea fara cuvinte" ("The Story Without Words") by director Cristian Radu Nema was named winner of the Best Visual Arts Project award at the 2025 Culture Awards, held on Tuesday evening in Brasov.
"It is our duty, all of us from my generation, to carry forward what we inherited from our mentors, teachers or idols, from those who inspired us. Romanian culture is the most beautiful legacy, and Phoenix is one of the most important phenomena of our culture. This art album is a work complementary to the film whose premiere took place at Palace Hall in 2022, in the presence of all members from every generation of Phoenix. Now it can be said that it is a complete fulfilment and, indeed, the story goes on, just as Nicolae Covaci always wanted," Cristian Radu Nema told AGERPRES.
Published under the imprint of the Official Gazette of Romania, the album captures the essence of the cultural phenomenon intertwined with decades of contemporary Romanian history. Created in collaboration with Nicu Covaci, the bands founder, the album reflects his wish to tell the Phoenix story solely through images, in a visual journey marking the most important moments of the group that redefined rock music in Romania.
Produced by the director over a decade of interaction with the band members, the album includes 650 previously unseen images from personal archives, most of them published for the first time.
The album is available in a limited edition at https://monitoruloficial.ro/produs/phoenix-povestea-fara-cuvinte/.
The Culture Awards event aims to highlight the most notable cultural events and releases of the previous year and to strengthen the sense of the local cultural community.
