The Administration of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (ARBDD) draws the attention of ship and boat drivers in the reserve's perimeter to the fact that the navigation is difficult due to the decrease in the Danube water levels and requests them to be extra careful in certain areas.
Among the areas mentioned in a press release issued on Tuesday by the ARBDD are the lake complexes Sireasa-Sontea-Fortuna, Rosu-Lumina-Puiu, Matita-Merhei, Gorgova-Uzlina, Dunavat and Razim-Sinoe.
In the press release, the institution subordinated to the Ministry of Environment recalls the obligation of boat drivers not to exceed the speed limits on canals and lakes, but also the fact that access to strictly protected areas is prohibited, according to Government Decision no. 538/2015 for the approval of the rules regarding the access and navigation of ships and boats on the canals and inland lakes within the perimeter of the reservation.
"Taking into account the fact that today, July 15, the Danube water level in Tulcea is 18 centimeters, the ARBDD calls for responsibility towards the safety of passengers, but also towards the importance of protecting biodiversity, especially aquatic biodiversity, at a vulnerable time due to low levels," the press release reads.
