National Defence Minister Radu Miruta and Michael Dickerson, the US Chargé d'Affaires in Bucharest, held talks on Monday at the Ministry of National Defence, focusing on issues of strategic interest to both sides.
According to a press release from the Ministry of National Defence Romania (MApN) sent to AGERPRES, discussions centred on the regional security situation, the state of bilateral cooperation in defence procurement, and opportunities for further development, reflecting the need for continuous adaptation to current and future security challenges.
The defence minister reiterated Romania's firm commitment to NATO's collective security, highlighting the country's active contribution to strengthening regional security through defence investments and enhanced cooperation with allied forces.
Miruta also expressed appreciation for bilateral relations with the United States within the framework of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, recalling the role of the United States of America in bolstering Romania's deterrence and defence posture and that of NATO's Eastern Flank.
"The meeting reconfirmed both sides' commitment to continuing political-military dialogue and close cooperation in support of regional and Euro-Atlantic security and stability," the MApN points out in its release.
