DefMin Dincu: In the future, we need to try to integrate all Amry's needs in national economy, if possible

Vasile Dîncu

Minister of National Defence Vasile Dincu on Thursday stated that the government must try to integrate all the needs of the Romanian Army in the national economy, if possible, as he attended the reception of a new batch of Dacia Duster off-road cars for military police missions, drills and training activities, carried out at the headquarters of the 122 Logistics Brigade.

"We are very happy that the Dacia Duster brand, which is quite well-known in the world, is capitalized on at home as well. And the signal we are giving is that you are a brand of excellence and this brand of excellence must go together with the excellence of the Romanian Army. I am very pleased that we are moving forward with this collaboration, that together we can succeed in integrating other needs of our Army into the national economy (...)," said Vasile Dincu.

By participating in the fleet renewal programme, he noted, the Ministry of National Defence shows "environmental responsibility."

"(...) The Romanian Army, at this point, is not only an important part of our identity, but it is also an important actor for the renewal and modernization of Romania. Participation in NATO also means participation in a new model of civilization. MApN purchased a lot of 74 Romanian off-road cars (...). These are meant for the military police missions and the participation of the Ministry of National Defence personnel in drills and training activities," Dincu stated.

Out of the group of 74 cars, 62 will be part of the 122 "Muntenia" Logistics Brigade within the Joint Logistics Command, the other 12 cars being purchased for the 84th Maintenance and Reception Centre, a structure of the Land Forces General Staff.

The Minister underscored that the Ministry of National Defence has been part of this programme since 2010 and that, in the future, it will become "a priority" to continue changing the outdated fleet that the Army still has.

"And we want this to happen, to the greatest extent with our partner, which is Dacia Pitesti," Dincu added.

According to the Ministry of National Defence, in the period 2015-2021, at the level of the Ministry, 886 Dacia Duster cars were purchased through the RABLA programme, out of which 457 in the colour mosaic variant. The total value of the vehicles is about 78,000,000 lei.
