The Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruta, met on Wednesday with Japan's Ambassador to Bucharest, Katae Takashi, during which the two officials discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral defence cooperation.

According to a press release from the Ministry of National Defence sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday, the two also mentioned the recent meeting between the Romanian official and his Japanese counterpart, which took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

The minister underscored the importance of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Japan, highlighting Romania's interest in enhancing dialogue in areas such as cybersecurity, research and innovation, as well as participation in joint international initiatives.

'Romania greatly values its strong relationship with Japan and reaffirms its openness to expanding defence cooperation in an increasingly complex security environment.
