Deputy Prime Minister Ana Birchall sent a message on Monday October 1, the International Day of the Older Persons, saying that in order to be able to look hopefully towards the future we ought to treasure and respect our seniors.
"Every year, the first day of October is dedicated to the eldest of us, our parents, our grandparents or our grand-grandparents. The International Day of the Older Persons reminds us that in order to look hopefully toward the future we ought to treasure and respect our seniors, those who have built the world we live in today on personal efforts and sacrifices, " Birchall said in a press statement.
At the same time, Birchall said that the elderly should be valued, protected and listened to.
"Even if we have a date dedicated to the elderly, I think that every day we ought to strive to brighten up their universe at any time through our deeds. Let us treasure our elders, protect them and listen to them as those who have educated, supported us and made us as the people of the Earth. Happy returns of the day to all the old persons who understand that age is just a number that does not prevent you from living nicely and dignifiedly in this world, serenely overcoming any obstacle. Many returns of the day to all those who live through the age of wisdom well!," said Birchall.
