The Grigore Antipa sea-going diving support vessel, with an EOD detachment on board, successfully concluded its participation in the multinational exercise ARIADNE 25 and returned on Monday to the military port of Constanta.

According to the Romanian Navy, after two weeks of complex training carried out in the Mediterranean Sea as part of the multinational exercise ARIADNE 25, the diving support vessel with a detachment of EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) combat divers on board returned on Monday to the military port of Constanta.

"As part of the ARIADNE 25 exercise sequences, the Grigore Antipa carried out tactical manoeuvres, defence training against air and naval threats, as well as operations to identify and neutralise sea mines, and EOD combat divers participated in specific training activities for the detection and disposal of underwater explosive devices together with partners from Greece and Belgium," the Romanian Navy reported.

The aim of the exercise organised by the Greek partners was to strengthen cooperation among the participating navies and to increase the level of training in the fight against sea mines. The experience gained by the Romanian Navy at ARIADNE 25 underlines the importance of continuous training and international cooperation for maintaining a stable and safe security environment.

The 66-crew Grigore Antipa vessel is commanded by Captain-Commander Cristian Mitu.
