Dozens of Bucharest residents donated blood at the event organized on Friday by the Bucharest City Hall, in partnership with the Bucharest Blood Transfusion Center.

Donating blood only takes a few minutes, but it can mean a chance at life for those in critical situations, according to a press release sent by the Bucharest City Hall. The need for blood is "constant" in hospitals in Bucharest and around the country, and everyone's involvement matters, the quoted source mentions.

"I thank everyone who came today to donate blood - their gesture makes a real difference for patients who need it most. Such initiatives remind us how important solidarity and care for others are. We will continue to support blood donation actions and encourage community involvement in supporting those in need," said the mayor of the capital, Nicusor Dan.

The city hall reaffirms its commitment to supporting campaigns of this type. Healthy citizens who meet the conditions are urged to get involved, blood donation being "one of the simplest and most valuable forms of help" they can offer.

"It is impressive to see how many Bucharest residents responded to our call to save lives. Through this simple but essential gesture, our community shows that empathy and solidarity are values that we truly value. I want to thank everyone who donated today - you are the anonymous heroes who make a difference in the lives of those in suffering," said the public administrator, Lucian Judele.
