The Institute of Educational Sciences, established based on a government decision adopted this week, must be the main driver to help us implement evidence-based education in the country, said Education Minister Daniel David on Saturday.

In a post on his personal blog, the Minister of Education highlighted that the establishment of the institute represents "a historical reparative motivation."

"The Institute of Educational Sciences must now be supported for development - especially once we overcome the current economic-financial blockages - because it must be the main driver to help us implement evidence-based education in the country, scientifically validated, not based on often (too) poorly informed opinions or pseudoscience," wrote Daniel David.

The Government approved, in Thursday's meeting, a decision regarding the organisation and functioning of the Institute of Educational Sciences (IES).

According to the decision, the Institute of Educational Sciences takes over the activities and specialist structures from the National Centre for Educational Policies and Evaluation (CNPEE), which will be dissolved.

"The duties of the Institute of Educational Sciences consist of conducting and promoting objective and independent studies and research that contribute to advancing knowledge through a better understanding of educational contexts, phenomena and processes, with the aim of supporting public policy decisions in the area of education," reads a release sent to
