Romanian tennis player Elena-Teodora Cadar (28, 635th in the WTA ranking) on Sunday clinched the trophy of the 15K Sharm El-Sheikh ITF tournament (Egypt) after defeating No.2 seed Eudice Wong Chong of Hong Kong 7-5, 6-3.
7th-seeded Cadar prevailed after an hour and 37 minutes over her 25-year-old, better ranked opponent (WTA's 434th), informs Agerpres.
This is Cadar's eighth ITF singles title and the first after almost four years with no wins.
In the first round Cadar defeated Russian Maria Mikhailova 6-2, 6-0, went past Greek Martha Matoula 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 16, defeated Taiwan's Ya-Hsuan Lee 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 in the quarterfinals, and upset Russian Mariia Tkaceva 6-0, 6-1 in the penultimate act.
