Over 20,000 consumption points were without power on Wednesday morning due to extreme weather phenomena, and at 5:00 p.m. there were still 1,598 households without electricity, Energy Minister Bogdan-Gruia Ivan said on Wednesday.

"I want to tell you that, up to now, as a result of the severe weather phenomena, there have been over 20,000 consumption points without power, with a peak this morning, at 8:00. There have been teams on the ground throughout this period, hundreds of teams on the ground. I have updated data at 17:00. At present, out of the approximately 20,000 consumption points without power this morning at 8:00, 1,598 consumption points are still without power," said Bogdan-Gruia Ivan, after the Energy Command meeting.

According to forecasts, their supply will be done by 8:00 p.m., the minister added.

"We are talking about counties in Southern Moldova, Muntenia, Dobrogea, which were affected by these phenomena, including the municipality of Bucharest. Both the rain and the wind led to damage to the networks, medium and low voltage networks. The high voltage networks were not affected during this period, only the low and medium voltage ones. These are weather phenomena that also affected the networks, including the poles, due to falling trees, wind and water showers," Bogdan-Gruia Ivan emphasized.

Asked by journalists if there are areas where power outages are expected, he said that it is impossible to say "where the trees will fall in advance", but at the level of each operator there are at least 20-30 teams ready to intervene, and there are currently 120 teams in the field.
