Stephane Sejourne, European Commission Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, will travel to Bucharest on January 8 to 9, where he will have meetings with a number of government officials, including Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, informs the European Commission Representation in Romania.

"Ahead of the official presentation of the European Commission's Clean Industry Pact and a few weeks after the launch of the strategic dialogue on the automotive industry, this visit marks the fourth stage of the Executive Vice-President's tour of the most strategic industrial sectors and supply chains in Europe - including, this time, a specific focus on batteries," according to a press release of the European Commission Representation in Romania.

On Wednesday, January 8, the high-ranking official will meet the Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Bogdan-Gruia Ivan, as well as with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and the President of the Senate, Ilie Bolojan.

On Thursday, January 9, Stephane Sejourne will visit the factory of "Prime Batteries Technology", a Romanian company, supplier of state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries and customized energy storage systems for a multitude of sectors and businesses across Europe. This visit will be an opportunity to showcase the indispensable role played by batteries in the decarbonization of European supply chains. The Executive Vice-President will also discuss the challenges facing the battery sector, as well as Europe's response to this.

Stephane Sejourne will conclude his trip with a visit to the National Institute for Aerospace Research and Development (INCAS), the main research centre in the field of aerospace sciences in Romania. This will be an opportunity to discuss the unfair competition exerted by China on the drone market and the increasingly relevant use of drone technologies in both civil and military applications.
