Famed Belgian jazz piano star Alex Koo is set to perform for the first time in Romania, on Thursday, at the Goethe Institute in the capital city Bucharest.
According to the Facebook page dedicated to the event, Alex Koo, praised as "stunningly original" by Downbeat Jazz Magazine, is known for creating music that transcends borders, combining jazz, indie, contemporary classical music and film music, with innovative freedom, agerpres reports.
"Technically impeccable, he surprises the audience with some unique touches (those nostalgic for Harry Tavitian's concerts will be excited to see him), and his compositions are powerful, full of energy, reminiscent of the music of American action films of the 70s," emphasise the event organizers.
Alex Koo will present in Bucharest his project "Piano Studies", commissioned by BOZAR Brussels. The artist's passion for jazz and classical music blend perfectly, like a combination between Debussy, Chopin, Reich and Rachmaninov, on the one hand, and Keith Jarrett, Craig Taborn, Brian Eno and Philip Glass, on the other, reads the project's description.
After the concert in Bucharest, the artist will also perform in Constanta, on November 28, and in Cluj, on November 29.
