The Agency for Financing Rural Investments (AFIR) will launch, between September 25, 2025 and October 12, 2025, the session for receiving financing applications for the reimbursement of insurance premiums through submeasure 17.1 of the National Rural Development Program (PNDR), applicable to the agricultural year 2024 - 2025.

According to a press release from AFIR, sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, the institution has published for information the Applicant's Guide for submeasure 17.1 "Insurance premiums for crops, animals and plants".

Thus, farmers will be able to submit their funding applications online during the funding application session that will take place between September 25, 2025 and October 12, 2025.

"Farmers must be protected, and Submeasure 17.1 comes as a breath of fresh air in a challenging period. It is a real opportunity for farmers to protect their work and investments, in a challenging climate context and in a difficult economic framework. Through this financial support, farmers are no longer alone in the face of risks, but receive concrete help when nature or the market put pressure on their shoulders," the general director of AFIR, Adrian-Ionut Chesnoiu said.

Through this submeasure, farmers can benefit from non-refundable support representing 70% of the value of the eligible insurance premium and actually paid by them. Support is granted for both the crop and livestock sectors, covering insurance policies that target the risks mentioned in the applicable legislation.

The implementation procedure for this session includes a series of updates, intended to simplify access to support and to better respond to the needs of farmers. Thus, when submitting the financing application, which also fulfills the role of payment request (if the respective financing application has been declared "eligible"), the farmer will also present proof of full payment of the total value of the insurance premium. At the same time, starting with this session, the electronic signature will be used exclusively on all documents submitted by farmers with the financing application.

The complete document is available for consultation on the AFIR website, www.afir.ro, in the Financing section, Support Measures page - sM 17.1.
