The film "The New Year That Wasn't", written and directed by Bogdan Muresanu, will have a special screening on Saturday at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the event, organised by ICR London from 16:00, will mark 36 years since the 1989 anti-communist Revolution, inviting the public to reflect on a moment that profoundly shaped Romania's trajectory.

The special screening will be preceded by a brief introduction by director Bogdan Muresanu and actor Mihai Calin, who will also participate in a post-film Q&A session. The discussion will be moderated by journalist and author Alice Nastase-Buciuta.

Since its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, "The New Year That Wasn't" has enjoyed a remarkable trajectory, receiving the prestigious Orizzonti Award for Best Film as well as the FIPRESCI Critics' Prize. Its success continued nationally, dominating the Gopo Awards with trophies for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress in Leading Roles, as well as Best Debut. Internationally, the film also won the Grand Prize at the Luxembourg City Film Festival 2025.

The cast includes Adrian Vancica, Nicoleta Hancu, Emilia Dobrin, Iulian Postelnicu, Mihai Calin, Andrei Miercure, Manuela Harabor, Elvira Deatcu and Ada Gales.
