Firefighters in Bihor County intervened on Monday to extinguish 30 fire outbreaks caused by burning dry vegetation, 28 of which occurred on vacant land, pastures and forests, while two occurred at households, according to a press release from the Bihor Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU) on Tuesday.
As a result of the fires, over 170 hectares of dry vegetation, forest litter and approximately 48 hectares of land were burned, along with around 100 trees, 4 telephone poles and 5 beehives.
The series of wildfires continued on Monday, after Bihor firefighters intervened over the weekend to extinguish 61 wildfires on a total area of over 270 hectares of dry vegetation.
The leadership of ISU Bihor bring to mind that the burning of stubble and plant residues is prohibited, and failure to comply with the legal provisions regarding the prohibition of burning stubble, peat bogs, forest litter, reeds, shrubs or herbaceous vegetation is an offense and is punishable by a fine ranging from 7,500 lei to 15,000 lei for individuals and from 50,000 lei to 100,000 lei for legal entities.
