The Prefect of eastern Neamt, Vasile-Adrian Nita, announced on Thursday that the first case of COVID-19 was detected in a Ukrainian refugee housed in the county, a 64-year-old man with many underlying medical conditions.
"The man was staying at the small timber houses in the Piatra-Neamt Municipal Swimming Pool, but we preferred to have him admitted to the Piatra-Neamt County Emergency Hospital because he needs dialysis, having kidney failure. He also has liver failure. All family members and direct contacts were tested, and the test results were negative. The 8 people will be tested again, in two days, according to the procedures," declared prefect Vasile-Adrian Nita.
All Ukrainian refugees who are accommodated in Neamt County and are in the records of the authorities are asked, with a translator, if they need medical assistance and are asked to report if they have specific symptoms of COVID-19. The Neamt prefect specified that this also happened in the case of the Ukrainian man detected with COVID-19.
