The "Femei de Piatra"/"Stone Women" Asociation will organize, on October 19, the first edition of the "Together for Women's Safety" March, an event dedicated to solidarity and awareness of gender violence, the association's president, Ioana-Alexandra Anastasiei, told AGERPRES on Thursday.
The initiative is part of a national movement coordinated by the VIF (Violence Intervention Forum) network.
The goal of the march is to draw attention to domestic violence and femicide, and to demand concrete measures to protect victims and punish aggressors.
"We want a world in which girls and women live safely at home, at school, at work and on the street. Violence is not normal. It is a social emergency that must be treated with seriousness and responsibility by the authorities and the entire community," Ioana-Alexandra Anastasiei also said.
Participants are invited to bring banners reading messages of support, to send a strong message together: "Not One Defeated! Not One Forgotten! Not One Less!".
In the first nine months of 2025, police officers from the Neamt Police Inspectorate intervened in 3,758 cases of domestic violence.
The most recent case of femicide occurred in Neamt a week ago, when a 20-year-old woman from Spiridonesti was fatally stabbed by her ex-partner. The victim's mother was also stabbed and is in serious condition in the hospital.
