Five airlines will operate charter flights to and from Maramures International Airport in Tautii Magheraus during the summer to established holiday destinations, airport development director Ionut Caraba said on Tuesday.
"The season will begin at the start of June and we have five airlines contracted by tourism companies. After many years, we can say that Maramures has secured its place on the map of international tourism as a departure point to favourite destinations. This summer, the airport will serve flights to Hurghada, Egypt, Antalya, Turkey, and Heraklion, Greece. It is possible that before the start of the season we will also announce other tourist destinations, with some routes currently under evaluation," Ionut Caraba said.
According to him, all flights are direct, without stopovers, and the schedule has already been agreed with tour operators, although changes are not ruled out depending on developments in the local and regional market.
"These flights will end at the close of September," Ionut Caraba added.
He also said that Maramures International Airport continues to serve business, medical and charter flights.
