The management teams of the Burn Centre of the Floreasca Emergency Clinical Hospital in Bucharest and that of the same hospital's Laboratory have been dismissed, the medical unit informs on Monday.

The decision comes after the sister of a patient who was hospitalized with burns on 70% of her body surface at the Floreasca Hospital reported several irregularities in the Burn Centre.

"In the context of the recent incident at the Burn Centre, we express, first of all, our deep compassion for the suffering of the patient and her family. (...) In order to prevent such situations from ever happening again, we have decided on the following measures, in addition to those already communicated: managerial reorganisation - we have decided to dismiss the management of the Burn Centre, and we have decided to dismiss the management of the hospital's Laboratory, as well. Starting today, the coordinator of the Burn Centre is doctor Adrian Frunza, and the laboratory is led by doctor Oana Iulia Talpos," the hospital informs in a message on Facebook.

According to the same source, the patient's medical observation sheet was promptly sent to the College of Physicians for a thorough analysis, and the 63 doctors involved (including doctors involved in interdisciplinary consultations) in treating the patient will send information notes to clarify the medical aspects of this case.

'A single patient suffering from irregularities like these is an alarm signal. These things should not and we do not want to happen again," hospital representatives report.
